How To Get Natural Back Links
The question was asked, “What’s the best source of back links?”
Answer: The best source is whatever choice you use that is right for you as long as the search engines don’t frown on it. There are effective and ineffective ways to get back links. For the most part you want to
1) Have a consistent article marketing strategy;
2) Blog often - at least once a day; two or three times a day if possible;
3) Visit bulletin boards and forums and post regularly with your signature line
4) Social networking. This is often overlooked by small businesses. There is more than one social networking site. MySpace is the most popular but you can also social network at LinkedIn, Ryze and several others.
One method you can use for social networking is to create more than one profile and use each one to link to separate pages on your website. Set up profiles with creative names such “Mr. Wrench,” “Hammer Man” and “Screw Driver” if you run a hardware store. If your website is organized such that each tool has a page linked to several articles and a shopping cart for taking orders then you can point each profile to that specific page on your website.
But isn’t that search engine spam? Only if you do it in excess. Article marketing can be considered spam if done excessively. For instance, if you submit the same article to 100 article directories and you get 10 websites picking it up at each directory, that’s 1,000 places with the same article. Most of those articles will likely not help you in the search engines, but the first 100 or so will.
The most effective method for back links is probably your blog. You can link two or three times to your website in the body of each blog post and include a signature at the end of each post that promotes your website. But make your links look natural by linking to different pages on your website rather than to your home page or a landing page.
