Your Marketing Message Must Be Consistent To Be Effective - Even Online
If you were to undertake a television advertising campaign, would you just film one commercial and air it twice then go home? Of course not. Because you are well aware that consumers must see your message no less than 7 times before they act on it. In most cases, repetition is the key to getting top-of-mind awareness in your target market.
Too many new Internet marketers go online to promote themselves and approach online marketing in a haphazard manner. Instead of hitting their target market with repetitive messages they take a “hit and miss” approach. Then they wonder why they are not getting the results they want.
Article marketing is a form of marketing that works best when you send you articles to several article directories on a consistent basis week after week. Over time, you will see the benefits of your marketing efforts. Too many article marketers write 10 articles, send them to one directory and expect to start seeing immediate results. You’ve just set yourself up for disappointment.
They take the same approach with their blog. They set it up, post once or twice, then get busy and before they know it, their once-a-day strategy has turned into a once-a-week posting schedule, then slips into “whenever I have the time.” That is no way to succeed. You’ve got to keep your blog updated on a regular basis, daily preferred but certainly no less than once a week, and maintain a consistent message throughout. That’s how successful marketing is accomplished - both online and off line.
The specific methods of online marketing you use are not as important as being consistent and driving your message home. E-mail marketing, newsletter or ezine marketing, e-book downloads, podcasting, blogging, article marketing, social networking and bookmarking - all of it can be effective. You don’t have to engage in every form of marketing but you do have to be consistent with the ones you choose and make them work for you.
