Blogging Is A Social Activity
I have searched the blogosphere high and low for one person who agrees with me that Blogger.com is not the place to host your business blog. Finally, I found her:
1) First and foremost, if you are currently using Blogger.com – switch immediately to a WordPress blog on your own domain. There are other solutions out there (such as typepad, for example), but you’ll find WordPress super easy to use and an endless source of help and information on it across the web. This is important, because if you are using Blogger.com (like I was, before switching) you are missing out on TONS of ‘perks’ to blogging.
Lynn Terry offer 6 other helpful tips as well. I agree with every one them (and that’s unusual). The whole point to blogging is to get other people involved in your business. But to do that successfully, you have to get involved in the blogosphere and what’s going on in the areas that are important to your prospects.
The one thing that Terry doesn’t touch on too much in this post (and most bloggers, or writers who write about blogging, don’t) is the SEO aspect of blogging. You have to optimize your blog posts like crazy. Don’t just write for your human visitors; write for the spiders.
