Your landing page is everything you have. It is the place where your visitors will land when they click on that pay-per-click ad, search engine result, or other inbound link. You want to make a great first impression. Here’s how:
- Great writing - Look. Don’t ramble. Get to the point and stay focused on ONE topic. Use a keyword. Maybe two. Optimize that page like your life depends on it because it does.
- One goal - Set a goal for that page. One. No more. Every element of your page must work to achieve that one goal.
- Graphics that support your writing - Writing sells. Graphics don’t. But that doesn’t mean graphics aren’t important. They assist you with you presentation. Create a visually appealing presentation, but don’t overdo it.
- Fast loading - Don’t put too many video files or Flash animation on the page. They cause your page to load slowly, especially for dial up users. With moving images, less is more.
- Call to action - Every landing page needs a call to action. This is where you ask for the order, the subscription, etc. Ask and you will receive. Make sure you have a dynamic call to action to closes the sale.
- Think security - People are still reluctant to share private information over the Internet. If you ask for private information, especially financial, then make sure encrypt your processes for maximum security. Reassure your visitors that their best interests are in your mind. Reassure them over and over again.
