Web Design Tip: Cut Out Excess Code For The Best SEO
Most web design and development companies don’t know the first thing about SEO or creating SE friendly websites. And most who claim to be are liars. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is.
Hint: If your web developer says they will SEO your website for you as part of the one-time design fee, they are a liar. If they tell you they’ll develop a search engine friendly or SEO ready site then there is a better chance they know what they are talking about.
I’ll have to say I agree. Most web design companies don’t know anything about SEO. ASM Development has to be the exception. While we pride ourselves in being SEO experts, we also understand web design. We do both.
We have a bevy of Scotland businesses who can vouch for our SEO skills and web design. There are some questions you can ask your web design company to see if they understand SEO. One such question you can ask is “Do you use Javascript and Flash in your design elements?” If they say yes ask, “Do you include the code for those elements in the html document itself or file them in a separate folder on my server?”
You’d better hope they say in a separate folder apart from your html. The reason you want them in a separate folder is because search engines do not like to crawl through oodles of code to get to the good stuff. That’s why you should limit your code to content ratio in favor of content. Cut out the excess code and your website will be crawled more often and achieve better rankings. Too many web design companies don’t know that.
ASM Development can help you with all your SEO & web design needs
