Article Marketing Is A Great Source Of Relevant Links
I’ve said it before, all SEO boils down to two things: Keywords and links. It’s like two prongs of a fork. Take away either prong and you don’t have a fork.
When it comes to links, however, not all links are created equal. The search engines evaluate links on relevancy and popularity, but not necessarily in that order. Keep these things in mind when planning your link building strategy:
- A link from a site related to yours in subject matter is more valuable than a link from an unrelated site
- A link from a site with a higher PR than yours is more valuable than a link from a site with an equal PR or lower
- A link from a web page with hundreds of other links on it is not that valuable
- A link – any link – using an important keyword for you is one of the most valuable links there are
Imagine this: You are browsing the Internet and you come across an article you wrote three months ago. It’s on a website in the same industry as you (relevance). That website has a PR of 6 versus your PR4. In your author resource box is a link to your website using your most important keyword, and it links directly to a web page optimized for that specific keyword. Now that’s a valuable link.
This little illustration serves to point out how very important article marketing is. Of course, not everyone who picks up your articles will have a higher PR than your website, but almost all of them will be related to your topic in some way. That’s why you do article marketing. It works. Don’t give up on it.
