Too many people don’t know what search engine optimization means. Well, it is intricately tied to code and content. If you expect to make the search engines happy and get ranked for your important keywords, you need to focus on optimization. Without a properly optimized website you’ll die in the search engine placements.

Design is not as important as the other three but you don’t want to ignore it either. You can have a pretty website that gets all the other elements wrong. That would be very sad. And too many people focus on design before everything else. Still, you do need to think about it and you should think about it before you get started building your website. Otherwise, you could back yourself into a corner that is difficult to get out of.

The best and most effective way to build a website is to bring all of these elements together under one roof. Succeed in all four elements and you’ll build a successful and effective website.
