Link Building Tip: What Makes A Valuable Back Link?
So many people think a lot of back links provide high value. I’m not one of those.
You have to be selective. The value of your links boil down to relevance and respectability. Call it the Two R’s or whatever. But you’ve got to look at these two things.
Relevance is the subject matter of your website. What’s it about? In general, links from websites that deal with the same subject matter are more valuable than those that are not. That’s why article marketing is such a good marketing tool. If you publish your articles in article directories, most of the websites that pick up your articles are going to be related to yours. Ergo, valuable back links.
Respectability has to do with the reputation of the website linking to yours. This could be PageRank, but it doesn’t have to be. It could also be how many inbound links that site has or how long they’ve been online. At any rate, if the website is popular and respected then a back link from it will be valuable to you.
When you combine these two qualities in one link then you have a really powerful link. In other words, a link from a highly respected website in your industry is the best link to have. That’s why article marketing and blogging are great sources of back links. Commenting on other blogs is a good way to build links, especially if you comment on blogs that are highly respected in your industry.
