Don’t Publish Your WordPress Posts Until It’s Ping Time
Found out something new about WordPress. If you timestamp your blog posts you’ll have to go back and ping them at the time they publish because WordPress pings when you hit the Publish button, not when you go live. That’s a big distinction.
I’m actually writing this post on Saturday, Aug. 23. It will go live on Aug. 24. I’m timestamping it, but I’m not publishing it right now. I’ll save it as a draft and then on the morning of the Aug. 24 – tomorrow – I’ll log in and hit “Publish.” That’s when it will ping. If I publish it now then it won’t go live until tomorrow, but it will ping right now. That won’t do me any good.
Just thought you should know about WordPress ping if you are running a WordPress blog.
