The Versatility of the Newsletter
The newsletter is one of the earliest and most successful innovations of the Internet. It seems that every other web site has one. Some are good, some are excellent, and some should never have been published in the first place.
Most newsletters are free to subscribe to. They are most often used as a marketing tool to keep in touch with the subscriber base. The occasional recommendation or offer will usually see a percentage of the readership purchasing. The secret here is trust.
If a publisher of a newsletter does his or her job right, then he or she will develop a loyal band of followers who will trust what is said. In that environment of trust, it’s easy to persuade people to go along with what you suggest. For this reason that trust should never be abused.
Every web site, big or small, can probably benefit from having a newsletter. It’s a very easy thing to implement, and maintain. The costs are minimal, but the potential profits are enormous. This is probably why newsletter continue to appeal to so many.
