Wikipedia - the Content Creator’s Dream…
Creating content, original content, is not always an easy thing to do for many people. Some always find it easy, but most people don’t. Then along came Wikipedia… In case you don’t know, Wikipedia is the world’s largest encyclopedia. It’s an online resource, and if there’s a subject, there’s a good chance that there’s also a Wikipedia page about it.
Of course, you can’t, or at least you shouldn’t, copy the Wikipedia copy as it stands; that’s plagiarism and illegal. But you can use the information in Wikipedia, just as you can use the information anywhere, as a basis for your own original content. The reason why Wikipedia is better as a source that most sources, is that Wikipedia covers so many subjects. There’s hardly anything it doesn’t mention.
Of course, you can quote relevant parts of Wikipedia and use it within your own original content. But be careful here, what constitutes fair use is open to opinion. Keep it short and it will probably be fine, Better still, don’t use quotes at all. Simply re-write everything in your own words. It’s easier than you might think, and that’s what makes Wikipedia such a great resource!
