The Online Advertising Methods
Online advertising is really not so different from offline advertising. They both share many aspects in common. The early methods of online advertising revolved mainly around banner ads placed on web pages, and ezine advertising. Both of these methods still exists and work well, though banner ads are not usually as effective these days as they once were.
Possibly the most common form of online advertising today are pay per click adverts. There are a number of competing vendors, but Google’s AdWords are probably the best known. These litttle four-line ads are quite uniquitous since Google allowed almost anyone to put a piece of code on a web page and serve up their own targeted ads. The Google AdSense scheme was, and still is, a highly lucrative business for many.
A more sophisticated form of online advertising, which has also been around for a long time, is the one-page mini-site. This is a small website that focusses on one single product. It may take five or six, or even more page folds to spin a compelling sales pitch to the prospective buyer, offering bonuses and lengthy guarantees. This method of online advertising works well when only one product is involved.
