The Intricacies of Email Marketing
Some people equate email marketing with spam. This is not so. Spam is where you do not have permission to mail to the recipient, but mail anyway. Email marketing is where you email an offer to a group of people who have all given their full consent to receive your messages. There’s a huge difference!
In order to undertake email marketing you do need to have an email list to mail to. You can, and probably shoul, get your list by encouraging people to opt in to your list and agree to receiving the occasional message from you. This does take time, but it is worth it in the end as you will have a group of loyal followers, each one of whom is highly likely to buy from you at some point.
Successful email marketing is all about trust. You have to build up a level of trust with your list. This is why buying a list and marketing to it has such a poor response; the people have no idea who you are, and care even less. there’s no trust been built up for them to feel comfortable with.
The successful email marketer is one who has taken time to build up his or her business. They have not tried to take short cuts, believing (correctly) that there are none to take. When someone says, “The money’s in the list!” they are right. But it’s a realization that came from hard patient work. The benefits are considerable though.
