Can A Newsletter Really Help Your Web Site?
It seems that nearly every web site you encounter these days has a newsletter. It makes you wonder, are they there because the site owner thinks he should have one, or are they there because they actually work to increase the web site’s profits.
Let’s face it, few of us do things for fun when work is involved. Running a newsletter is work. It may also be fun, depending on what it’s about, but by and large, it’s work. This leads us to suspect that perhaps they run a newsletter because it has an impact on profits. It does. A big impact! It’s a very profitable vehicle to complement a web site with, in fact, providing it’s done right, of course.
A newsletter needs to provide valuable information for the recipient. It has to give the receiver something that they want or need. And it has to do this over and over again. The alternative is that the person getting the newsletter will simply unsubscribe and you will lose them forever.
Of course, they subscribe in the first place because of the promises made to them. You have to keep those promises if you want to keep the subscriber. It’s not difficult, really. Just ask them what they want, then give it to them. Don’t pester them with continual offers. Give more than you appear to get. Believe me, if you run your newsletter properly, you WILL get more back in return!
