Blogging and SEO
Blogs are relatively new. They have however, taken over the Internet and changed it considerably. While many put up blogs to tell the world about their cats, or their boyfriends, or even their summer holidays, the irony is that the world never see them. But blogs can be wildly successful if done properly.
There is a myth that the search engines prefer blogs and will rank them higher in the search engine results. This is untrue. What is true is that by their nature and how they are designed, blogs are better SEO’d to begin with. Posts can ping services that announce their presence, plugins can work wonders in so many different directions, that it’s little wonder that blogs may appear to be liked better than static web sites by the search engines.
You could do exactly the same with a static web site, more or less. But because it’s usually such hard work, it’s often better to start off with a blog. They have the advantage of being so easy to update, unlike a static site. There’s little need for FTPing, though you may need to FTP images. In most cases it’s just a case of logging into the blog dashboard and writing a post. With one click of a button your post is published, services have been pinged, and search engine robots will be on their way to check it out. What could be easier?
