Web 2.0, A New Wave Of SEO?
Web 2.0 has been hailed as the new Internet. Maybe it is, and in a way it does offer a new approach as far as the end user is concerned, but does it offer anything from the point of view of the webmaster?
There has been much written about utilising Web 2.0, most of it rubbish. Not so long ago all the rage was spamming MySpace with bulletins. It worked to some degree until MySpace tightened up. Then there was Squidoo as the next big thing, and everyone jumped on that bandwagon. So, what is the best way to use Web 2.0 as a webmaster?
Most of the social media sites allow you to create a profile. Some let you create a specialised blog. All of them are spidered daily by the major search engines. Are you beginning to see how this might work?
If you use social media sites in the way that the Internet works, you will benefit, because you will be benefitting others. It’s no good creating lots of profiles on social media sites just to leave a back link to your site. Take the time to create something of value and you will get even more out of the exchange.
Back links are the lifeblood of a web site, and social media sites allow you to create good, solid back links to your site. For example, answer relevant questions at Yahoo Answers and link to your site as the source (assuming your site has the answer, of course). You can do the same thing at a dozen other sites.
Your answers will be useful and relevant, your included link will be natural and useful as well. Thia is how the Internet works. When you work with it using Web 2.0 social media sites, people will respond positively and thank you for it. You will be rewarded by being viewed as an authority, and you will get a link back to your site.
