Internet Marketing - The Holy Grail, Or Just Another Way To Market?
Internet marketing has taken on a life of its own. It has gained a romantic image of a world where ordinary people can get rich overnight with little knowledge or experience.
Sadly, this is rarely the case. Most overnight riches are years in the making. nevertheless, Internet marketing does offer a wonderful opportunity to millions.
In the traditional style of marketing the entrepreneur needs a lot of money to start a business. because of this, most businesses are started cautiously and a lot of research goes into it first before anything gets off the ground.
The Internet changed all that for millions of people. It was like the gold rushes of earlier times. Businesses could be started with next to no capital, and with a little luck, they could be profitable in a matter of weeks.
Of course, the most sustainable business models still require research and a plan, whether or not they rely on the Internet, but Internet marketing has certainly made it easier.
Internet marketing can take many forms. Most of them revolve around a web site of some form or other. It may sell a product directly, or it may do comparison reviews, or it may promote someone else’s product on a commission basis.
Other models may sell advertising, or urge the visitor to take a particular action. All of these things are geared towards monetization, and the better they perform the more profits they make.
Traffic is the lifeblood of Internet marketing. There are a number of ways to attract traffic. Search engine optimization, or SEO, properly performed will cause a web page to be ranked high for a particular keyword. This can bring in a lot of traffic. Or traffic can be bought through advertising.
