Email Marketing That Works

Email marketing is more or less the direct electronic equivilent of direct mail. It’s also similar to sending out a print newspaper or news letter on a regular basis. It even bears similarity in many ways to placing adverts in magazines and newspapers.

There is a difference though:

  • It’s immediate.
  • You have a much greater reach.
  • It’s virtually free to operate.
  • Gaining subscribers can be faster.
  • You can send out more than one message in a single day.

Of course, email marketing is prone to abuse. We call it spam. Essentially it’s the same in the “real world” but we call that junk mail and just dump it as soon as the postman delivers it. Online we are much less tolerant. We consider it a serious invasion of our privacy if anyone send us emails that we have not asked for. It’s even illegal in many countries too! Despite the problems with unsolicited email, marketing through this medium can be extremely successful, if done properly. Building up an optin list is one of the best things that any marketer can do. When you consider that a subscriber to a newsletter or updates list can be worth $1 per month on average, think about the profitablity of having a list of 10,000, or 50,000.

You have to market the list properly, of course, to earn serious money. But many are doing this. It’s email marketing plain and simple, and it sure works! And don’t forget, there are many other ways not mentioned here that email marketing can be employed in any business.
