Good Web Design Is The Secret
There’s a lot more to web design, effective web design that is, than throwing up a few pages and slapping in some AdSense code and hoping. That used to work, but no longer does. These days your web design has to have real substance or it will get nowhere.
Web Design, strictly speaking, is the design of the web site. The content is someone else’s problem. But I like to keep the two together as they are not totally divorced from each other and never will be either. Wikipedia bears this out by stating:
“A Web site is a collection of information about a particular topic or subject. Designing a website is defined as the arrangement and creation of Web pages that in turn make up a website.”
The end result of good web design is something that becomes greater than merely the sum of its parts. A well designed site can be a virtual gold mine, while a poorly designed site will be lucky to ever pay for it domain and hosting costs - even if the hosting is free!
Too many businesses cut corners when it comes to web design. They let rank amateurs have a go and the results clutter up the length and breadth of the Internet. These same business owners wonder why some web sites are successful while they are not. Mostly it comes down to good web design: careful conceptualizing, meticulous planning, skillful modeling and proper execution. That’s all it takes!
