Online Advertising and SEO
The term, “online advertising” may have an obiouv meaning to most people. But perhaos a definitive explanation from Wikipedia may help to clear any misunderstanding there may be:
“Online advertising is a form of advertising utilizing the Internet and World Wide Web in order to deliver marketing messages and attract customers. Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam.”
It could be argued that properly constructed web pages are in themselves online advertising, in that they are displaying their message to the world in such a way that they expect to be seen and also expect to influence a large amount of people.
Of course, online advertising can be simple stand alone advertising on a web page, and it often is. There are networks that cater to this an offer webmasters the opportunity to benefit from their advertising by offering a commission on profits if they display advertising on the pages.
Google’s AdSense is probably the bets known of this type of online advertising, but it is not by any meansd the only one. There are an increasing number of others who have similar offers that are proving popular in varing degress. Online advertising is not s single entity. It is a many varied thing and will continue to grow as time goes on.
