Online advertising takes many forms. Essentially, it is merely advertising that appears via the Internet. Or to be more precise, usually just on the World Wide Net.
Online advertising can of course be only email based. This method has been greatly abused over the years by a few persistent people to produce the so-called spam emails that most of us receive offering everything imaginable. This type of online advertising is illegal and unwanted. It is a nuisance that we tolerate, though only just.
“Online advertising is a form of advertising utilizing the Internet and World Wide Web in order to deliver marketing messages and attract customers. Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam.” wikipedia.org
Acceptable online advertising can take the form of banner ads appearing on a web site. This type of online advertising is less effective today than it once was. But if used properly, and most people don’t use it to its full effect, it can still return a good profit.
Most people think of PPC, or pay-per-click advertising when they think of online advertising. The best known of this kind of provider is Google with its proprietry Google AdWords. These little ads that appear on countless web sites have proved themselves to be extremely popular, and extremely profitable for those who use them properly.
