Making Use Of A Regularly Published Newsletter
Running your own newsletter can be fun. It can be very profitable too, if you do it right. However, there are several things you should keep in mind if you want to get it right first time.
1. Decide on a schedule and stick hard to it. You can have a weekly newsletter, two-weekly, monthly – even daily if you like. But whatever you decide, stick with it, so choose wisely at the beginning.
2. If you will publish articles, then provide a short summary for those who don’t have time, or can’t be bothered to read through an article to see whether or not they want to read all of it. Help your readers, and they will reward you with loyalty.
3. Keep the format simple. Don’t get fancy with HTML or PDF, unless there is a definite demand for it. A Simpole text-based newsletter works best, even now when fancy technology is everywhere.
4. Don’t make it all about you. Make it all about YOU! What I mean is, don’t tell them all about what you are doing and how great you are. tell them how great they are. Use the word, “you” a lot. They will love it and listen to you a lot more. People are basically selfish – it’s a simple fact – and they love to hear about themsleves. Tell them what they want to hear.
5. Always provide contact information in every issue of your newsletter. Also provide a means for them to unsubscribe. Make it easy for them to do so and tell them exactly where the unsubscribe link is. Knowing that they can usually means that they won’t bother. But if they think you are hiding the link, they will find it and use it!
While you are providing the newsletter, you are dependant on your subscribers for continuation. be good to them. No, be REALLY good to them, and you will have loyal and happy subscribers. That is a recipe for good profits, which is what you are really after!
