However, if you are targeting a longtail keyphrase and the domain you register is an exact match of that phrase, then length doesn't matter. And no jokes about that last sentence please. I "like" those guys who are buying domains with 70+ characters within the name, with about 2 hyphens. Who will remember such names? I like the KISS idea (keep it simple stupid) :) .
