The Trick is in the Domain Names
One of the hardest tasks when you build your website today is getting the domain name that suits your website perfectly according to purpose. Considering that the investments made over the web today have become evident, chances of getting typical domain names today may not be as easy and cooperative.
Domain name preferences have been limited in such a way to which some people have to abbreviate or add something to the end of the preferred domain name just to identify them from the rest. But if you site name is something out of the ordinary, chances are you will have a greater chance of landing it. Buzz words and daily terms such as business, technology and blog have been so far used and with that in mind, you may have to become more creative in getting the ideal domain name suitable for your sites purpose of existence.
Domain names play an integral role in optimization as well. Corporate names are usually preferred since this is their identity already and would be easier for their clients and patrons to access their website. But you just cannot discount the fact that there are some websites who may be thinking of the same thing when they are producing good website domain names. It is a key tool in making visibility in the cyber world today and being easily found.
The limitations can be traced to the fact that people who heeded the warnings earlier on have already made their preliminary investments in domain names. While some of them have made a business out of it, buying it at low rates and now selling them at ranges to which they feel will be compensable is a good business deal for them. And this has been a good additional income for them as well as companies and organizations are now scrambling to get domain names that they really want.
Just think of it. Domain name are related to SEO and marketing. For people who are only investing today, the price to pay may not be that attractive. If only they had listened before then perhaps they have already cemented their space on the Internet today.

Basically, the name of your domain is one of the most important things in order to become successful. I “like” those guys who are buying domains with 70+ characters within the name, with about 2 hyphens. Who will remember such names?
I like the KISS idea (keep it simple stupid)
. In order to understand your needs, simply compare your top competitors and their domain names.

I don’t think you can actually get a domain name with 70+ characters but understand your point entirely. However, if you are targeting a longtail keyphrase and the domain you register is an exact match of that phrase, then length doesn’t matter.
And no jokes about that last sentence please.
