We all shout out for more information on various stuff and Wikipedia is simply full of it. If you recall the good old days when the encyclopedia is the main source of extracting quotes and information for that old research paper, Wikipedia is the new age of modern day information offering.

The difference today is that information is no longer restricted to one source. Unlike encyclopedias, Wikipedia solicits and showcases new and updated information of any issue we hear of today as well as certain terms that we would want to be clarified often. The difference lies in the frequency of updates that Wikipedia applies.

(Source) Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world. Since its creation in 2001, Wikipedia has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference Web sites. There are more than 75,000 active contributors working on some 9,000,000 articles in more than 250 languages. As of today, there are 2,103,425 articles in English; every day hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles to enhance the knowledge held by the Wikipedia encyclopedia.

So in line with our cry for juicy content and information, Wikipedia is the first site that would come into mind when we come across questionable terms and words. While some may not be content with what they get from Wikipedia, it is a given that basic information are sure to be contained there. At least it is a start to get the ball rolling.
