Welcome to the New Age of Podcasting
Podcasting is a new term we hear these days. While it may be something that you may want to look into, you may be surprised to note that it is really just another term for making files available on the web as hosted by people who know how to make audio, video, images and related documents available on the web today.
(Source) Podcasting is the syndication of audio files using RSS. Podcasting works the same as a standard RSS feed reader or news aggregator, the only difference is that the feed you subscribe to contains an audio file in it. Instead of reading content in your RSS feed reader or aggregator, you can listen to the contents of your feed using a reader or aggregator that supports podcasting, or you can listen to them on an iPod or similar device. While podcasting was named for the iPod, you do not have to have an iPod to listen to a podcast. Podcasts can be displayed on websites with clickable links to audio files and many of the standard RSS readers, like FeedDemon’s latest beta, have begun supporting audio enclosures.
One thing that perhaps separates podcasting for most people is the fact that it allows streaming videos and audio files for access. We all know that the satisfaction of people today grows with each passing day. With that said, it seems that most surfers are no longer content with pure images and files they can read. Hearing and seeing them in another aspect of expanding the use of Internet fruits has indeed been something that people have looked forward to.
For podcasting to work, it can be typified into the usual server-client relationship. While the server side is often the side that holds files that are waiting to be accessed, interface clients are the ones being downloaded to allow people to access and enjoy the podcasting services available today. Among the known podcasting clients include that of iTunes, Juice and Doppler. After they have been installed and set up accordingly, all that is left is to see what files they can access on the hosts.
