Wikia Search Off To A Slow Start
Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, has been planning his newest project for a long time. He plans to take on Google through an open source search engine called Wikia. The problem is it isn’t getting rave reviews”
The negative reviews are understandable. All Wikia is right now is a shell. There are few articles in the database and it will take some time before it is fully populated. Some of the negative feedback so far has been around this fact. Why Wales decided to roll out the Wiki search engine before it was fully developed is anyone’s guess, but even if they get the attention of thousands of editors those editors will all be volunteer and will take some time to populate the search engine with information. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to seeing the Wikia development.
