E-mail Marketing Is Still Effective
E-mail marketing is one of the mainstays of the Internet economy. It’s been around longer than just about any other online medium. Most people were using e-mail long before they were online and even some people who aren’t online much now still use e-mail.
There really is no right way or wrong way to go about e-mail marketing. There are effective ways and ineffective ways. Some of the ways that e-mail marketers in the past have used to market their products and services include:
- A periodic newsletter
- E-brochures
- Periodic sales and offers
- Postcards
- “Send this to a friend” chain letters
- Links to online content like videos and podcasts
There are countless creative ways to use e-mail for marketing. But in general the tried and true methods work wonders. Veering from them can be dangerous.
When it comes to e-mail marketing, the most powerful tool you have is your list. You can purchase or rent a list, but most successful e-mail marketers will tell you that building their own list was the way they achieved success – and I highly recommend building your own list. If you do this, use the double opt-in method. It’s the safest, securest way to protect you from uncanny accusations.
