Search Trends And Your Local Search Engine
Your local search engine can be your best friend when it comes to selecting keywords and optimising your web or blog site. Consider for a moment the different spelling combinations between Scottish and American keywords. A search for the word ‘color’ will bring back different results to the search for the word ‘colour’.
It is natural for us to use ‘colour’ and ‘labour’ amongst others. But what and where is your market. if you are working on a Scotland Search Engine Optimisation program then using ‘colour’ is quite appropriate. If you are trying to target international markets, in particular US markets, then you may need to consider alternative spelling. It may be appropriate to use both sets of spelling in your Meta Tag Keyword list.
At the same time it is well worth looking at local search trends. What are people searching for? Is some of the American language infiltrating our society. You may be fully optimised for our local search engine only to find that you are losing traffic due to subtle changes in the language used – particularly when it comes to our youth.
Your Scotland search engine optimisation strategy must utililse local search trends to capitalise on modern internet usage. You may also be missing out on valuable inbound links due to simple spelling differences. Spelling – I knew there was a reason to listen to the teachers many years ago!
