Content Development - 8 Keys To Satisfying Readers Needs
If content is king then content development must be your number one priority each day. Not only do you need to satisfy your readers, you also need to ensure the right balance of keywords. If we leave keywords for another day we can concentrate on the content development for readability. Using these eight keys you will be sure to have them returning hungry for more.
- Understand Your Readers: be aware of their questions, problems, and issues
- Solve Their Problems: point your reader in the direction of tools and resources designed to solve their problems
- Answer Their Questions: a question requires an answer (a problem requires a solution). Answer their questions in a factual manner using language that is understandable
- Demonstrate: often an answer or a solution is not enough, the reader needs a demonstration, a walk through, perhaps screen shots. Show them how it is done rather than tell them
- Keep Then Informed: having provided answers or solutions in the past it is a good idea to inform readers when there are changes, updates or new solutions. Makes for easy copy for yourself whilst providing a service to your readers
- Turn The Difficult Into The Easy: make World Wide Web as easy as possible. It should be remembered that many ‘baby boomers’ are entering the online world - take the ghosts out of the WWW and you will gain many friends
- Be Entertaining: make your articles as entertaining as possible. Make them laugh or leave them with a smile. The reader should leave feeling good - unless you use the following
- Be Controversial: make a statement, take a stand, make a point. Rather than leaving the reader feeling good, have the reader leave feeling thoughtful - still thinking about the issue - they will most likely return to read comments or leave comments of their own
There is no foolproof method to great content development. Every blog and web page is different. What will work on one site will fail miserably on another. If you follow some of these basic keys you will find that content development becomes easier and your satisfied readership will grow.
