Robots. Use a Robot.txt file to tell the search engines which pages can and cannot be indexed.
Sitemap. Use a sitemap that is search engine friendly and in XML format. You should also provide your readers with a user friendly sitemap on a dedicated page.
Error pages. Check to make sure that all your links are current. Update your 404 page so that you don’t get 404 page not found errors. The best option is to have your 404 error page redirect to a page with some relevance – the site map page can be a perfect page to redirect to.
Web 2.0. Market your site throughout the web 2.0 social neighbourhood. Make use of directories, forums and sites such as Digg, Reddit and any others that are relevant to your niche.
