Can A Blog Be Successful In Scotland?

With a title like that you would think that Scotland was on the other side of the moon, or in deepest outer space. And yet I often get that question. We’re in Scotland, I hear you say. The only successful blogs are those based in the USA. Blogging can be a successful pastime anywhere in the world; anywhere full stop actually.

Some of the top bloggers are based in the UK, Australia, Europe and South East Asia. The location of the blog is not what makes it successful. I could write all the posts on this blog in a totally non geographical way and no one would know where it was based unless they started digging. Your response may be to question whether or not this blog is successful. Define Successful? Your here and you are reading this article, therefore this blog is successful.

Blogging is becoming an art and like most art forms, your location is irrelevant. It is your content that is important. Obviously your blogs fame is going to be determined by the genre, the blogs aim, and whether or not it is directed and suited to a broad international audience or a narrow local audience like we are here in Scotland.

If you are in Scotland and looking to create a web presence, develop a blog, or just looking for information to improve your current online presence and you are reading this article, then this blog is a success. If you also visit our parent site, ASM Development, then the blog has served its purpose.

That is how you need to assess your blog. Are your blogging efforts being rewarded by targeted visitors? Are they moving on to your parent site if you have one? Are you gaining quality sales or quality leads from your blogging efforts? If the answer is yes then your blog is a success. Forget search engine rankings for a moment and concentrate on your outcomes. Any SEO work you do should be aimed at achieving those outcomes.

If you are achieving your outcomes then your answer to my opening question should be a yes. If your Scotland blog is not achieving your desired outcomes then you need to look at the blog itself and your blogging habits and see what needs tuning to achieve those outcomes.

The blogs location, be it Scotland, Antarctica or Mars, is totally irrelevant. In this digital world the internet is not measured in distance, it is measured in content - in this case, blogging content. Put it all together and you could be blogging to success.
