5 Quick Tips To Improve Your Web Design
The basic principle of web design is fairly straight forward. The five quick tips will ensure your web design is easy to read and looks attractive for your visitors.
- Break text up: Keep the paragraphs short and to the point. Readers generally don’t want to wade through lengthy paragraphs of padded text.
- Make Space between lines: Set your line spacing at least 125% of the font size. This makes for easy reading.
- Use appropriate text/background contrast: The best example is black on white or white on black. Use a contrasting colour scheme that is easy on the eye.
- Use a reasonable font size: Remember us oldies. You may fit more text using an eight or ten point font but it is not easily read. A twelve point font is normally the best.
- Use the style sheet for formatting: Use the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) to control your fonts, colours and line spacings. This ensures that everything is standard throughout the page.
Nothing could be easier. Set your font size and colour; use a contrasting background to make it easy on the eye; set an easy to read line spacing and save it all to a style sheet. Write easy to digest paragraphs and your web design is ready to go.
