Can Google Trends Help With Scotland Search Trends?
Google Trends can be a handy little tool if you know how to use it. Many people try to use the trends to drive more traffic to their site. It can work well at times, but not always and it is certainly not a practice I would make a habit of. To use today’s trend results as an example. Hulu is showing number one in the results and so it should. Having just gone public everyone will be looking for information on the site. Some well ranked sites will end up on the front page of the search results even though they have no content related to Hulu. In fact, just by dropping the term into this post a couple of times we may end up on page one. Does it help with traffic? It may. However many searches will look at the post title and not bother to follow the link.
The other problem with search trends is that you could be missing the boat all the time. By time you are trying to use that word as a keyword, the main search traffic has been and gone. The real trick is to try and determine which keywords are moving up in the trends and to then get in early with your content.
Can Google Search Trends help you site here in Scotland. It is a another yes/no answer and it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are simply after traffic then yes, it may help. If you are after quality traffic that are looking to buy then the answer may well be no.
Quality visitors who are there because they are interested in your product are there not because of the search trends, but because of the hard work in done to market your site, the strong SEO program you have undertaken and of course by word of mouth from satisfied customers.
Trends can be a source of traffic if you know how to use them. They will not generate extra sales unless you can connect the current trends to your products or services.
