Content Development For Your Scotland Based Site
No matter where you are in the world, your content development needs to focus on your prospective customers or clients. If your site is based here in Scotland and your customer or client base is local then your content needs to be focused on their needs.
If your client or customer base is to a broader market then you need to focus your content development on that broader market. In other words, write to satisfy the needs of your market. The big problem is trying to define those needs.
Current events are often a good starting point. Look at what has been or is about to happen in the region. Also look at what is happening surrounding the product or service that you are offering. If you are blogging, keep your content to what is important now. It is not much good discussing the pro’s and con’s of a topic, say WordPress, if you don’t include the latest information (WordPress’ latest release for example).
What is happening in your region or to your product (or service) is what your visitors are going to be focusing on. What is new about your product or service. Why should I buy from you and not the next site I visit?
An example of using local news is the current Post Office closure proposals in Scotland and the UK. If you are a courier or transporter, what a perfect time to get in and promote your service.
In short, be aware of what is topical through out your marketing region. Tap into it while it is topical. Remember also that while it is topical in the news, it will also be topical within the search engines. Make use of it when planning your content development. There is a lot happening within Scotland and the UK - use it to your advantage.
