Branding And Marketing: reBranding Lessons From US Politics
It is not often you learn something from politicians, in fact it’s not often that politicians learn anything. However, there may be lessons to learn from the US Presidential elections when it comes your branding and marketing.
Twelve months ago John McCain was dead and buried when it came to the race for nomination. However sitting here today he has the Republican nomination all sewn up and is now working on his election strategy. So what has changed and what does it have to do with branding and marketing?
McCain was unwanted so he sat down and basically re-invented himself, or re-branded himself. If your products are not selling then perhaps it is time to look at re-branding your products and developing a new marketing campaign to match. McCain’s re-branding has enabled him to undertake a completely fresh branding and marketing campaign with a different message and aimed at a different audience.
If you decide to go down that re-branding road, you need to do a complete review of your current branding and who you are targeting. Select your target market carefully then look at your branding and marketing strategies.
Although many other factors have played their role in McCaine’s revival, his first steps were to rethink his target audience. From there he reworked his message and started selling that message to his new target audience. For him, re branding and marketing may well see him sitting in the White House this time next year.
Sometimes, sitting down and taking a fresh look at who you are and what you are trying to achieve with your web site can pay big dividends. Re branding and marketing can help to solve many issues when it comes to slow sales or negative reputations.
