Social media can be an import part of your reputation management. Your network of ‘contacts’ become your ears. If something negative is being said about you they are likely to contact you and let you know.
Getting advance warning is one of the keys to reputation management. Being able to identify a problem early means you can take steps to either prevent the problem from spreading too far, or fixing the problem.
Another key to reputation management through social media is to develop a credible image. when things go pear shaped you are in a better position to take steps as your name and reputation carry some weight.
Reputation management starts well before a problem does. In fact, reputation management should help you prevent any problems.
