Content Development For B2B Blogs
There is a growing trend to the use of B2B blogs - that is blogs that are written for the industry rather than the general search market. These blogs are highly niche specific and as such their content development needs special attention.
Any content that is written for the consumption of other businesses tends to have a far different format. Rather than avoiding jargon and ‘house’ talk, business to business content relies on the use of that language - it is after all the language that is understood by fellow business people.
Business to business content is not restricted to short snappy articles. Instead, long pieces that analyze a particular topic and provide a useful insight to that topic is preferred. Whilst readers are not looking for a thesis on the topic, it can often look pretty close.
Why are business to business blogs different? Business is not looking for a quick fix and to move on to the next blog. B2B posts tend to be less frequent and more sticky as they become reference material for other business professionals.
Well written B2B blogs tend rank well over time because of that reference nature. Each post tends to draw more links as it is referenced by others, including non business related readers. Your standard every day blogger will often use this material as a basis for their own short posts.
If you run a business, you can incorporate a blog for your customers. Don’t be afraid to have a second blog that is targeted towards other businesses in your niche.
