Viral Marketing To Go Video In 2009
Video has become the latest fad in online marketing and viral marketing is set to try and take it to the next level. There have already been several videos that have gone ‘viral’ – Gatorade’s “Ball Girl,” and Nike “Kobe Jumps Over Car,” are two that most users will recognize.
WebProNews reports that:
The majority (70%) of ad agency and media buying executives plan to increase budgets for viral video marketing in 2009
That represents a lot of videos and obviously they will not all go viral. However, video marketing is here to stay; make it humorous and people will watch, share and incorporate it on their sites thereby spreading the message. It is clever and will supersede any other form of viral marketing very quickly.
Where video marketing will have its knockers will be in the area of conversions. Video at present does not convert too well. It does a great job in spreading the word and increasing brand recognition. People will watch a video, perhaps use it, but not click on ads or links to the target site.
If you are looking at viral marketing and considering video – keep that in mind. Spread your brand and increase your brand awareness – just don’t expect an increase in sales from the video itself. You will see an increase, but it will be indirectly rather than the traditional direct method.
