Video Search Goes Up Another Notch For Indexing
Just over a month ago we wrote a post about Google’s ability to undertake ‘audio indexing’ of videos. The video search engine technology is moving up to another level with face recognition software in videos.
Video Surf can now index videos on a variety of keywords and images including actors and characters. For example,
[source]A search for the television show “Lost” brings up results for the show and also a thumbnail photo for each character. Clicking on the thumbnail of “Lost” actress Evangeline Lilly will bring up clips from the TV show and also other clips of Ms. Lilly, like her appearance on the “Late Show With David Letterman.”
These more advanced indexing technologies will mean that optimizing your videos accurately will become more important and will hosting on your own site rather than third party sites.
Video is becoming a popular tool for many web masters particularly since it is now so quick and easy to create and publish them. If your not using video and your competitors are then perhaps it’s time to research their use and include them if appropriate.
