Google Analytics Gains A Little Oomph!

If you have a website or blog then you should be using Google Analytics as part of your monitoring program. Whilst it’s not as comprehensive or accurate as it could be, Google Analytics still provides an interesting view of your sites traffic.

The latest addition to the Google Analytics suite include a change to the Account Management Dashboard, an all new Custom Reporting Tool and an all new Advanced Segmentation Tool.

A new management dashboard shows an overview of accounts with key performance metrics showing in-line, e.g. Visits, Avg. Time on Site, Bounce Rate, Completed Goals, % Change & Actions. Users can see at a glance useful statistics making it easier to manage and monitor their accounts.

Although in beta stage, the Custom Reporting Tool is a powerful tool offering users the ability to create, save, and edit reports to give a specific view of the data. You can drag and drop the information and metrics you wish to see to create your own custom analytics report.

The Advanced Segmentation tool is also in beta. It enables users to isolate and analyse subsets of their traffic. Filters can be created with just a few mouse clicks and view side-by-side comparisons of segment performance. Segments can be quickly created using the easy to use segment builder.

These additions increase the reporting power of Google Analytics and can be used to determine keyword effectiveness. If your prepared to go past the first screen you can find a lot of data that can be very useful in determining the effectiveness of your SEO strategies.
