Can Social Media Content Help You Optimize Your Website?
Here’s an interesting study. UK businesses are seeing more traffic from social media marketing and less traffic from paid search. Very interesting considering that paid search can help you optimize your website and has been a staple of marketing tactics for serious Internet marketers. Social media has grown in popularity in the recent years, but does anyone use it to hone their on-page optimization?
One could make the case that social media can be included in optimization efforts. After all, clickers from social media sites visit websites based on the same principles that other visitors operate on. Well-written headlines, etc. If your social media content is well-written, designed to get the click, and optimized for web traffic then you’ll get more traffic to your website.
The only problem I see with using social media to optimize your site is if you are successful at optimizing your social media content then it could rank better than your website content, which you don’t want. It seems that social media optimization is a double-edge sword, but if it brings you visitors then that’s all that matter, right?
