How Article Marketing Can Boost Your SEO
There are some people around who will tell you that article marketing is the only way to rank highly in search engines. There are others that will tell that article marketing is dead when it comes to SEO. As with most things to do with SEO, the truth lies somewhere in between.
Article marketing is certainly not dead. However, if your pages have not had the required SEO work done on them then article marketing is not going to be of much use. Used as part of a good all-round SEO program, article marketing can give your pages that final extra boost needed to rank well.
Assuming you have your web pages carefully optimized, submitting articles to directories can help deliver both short and long term traffic. There are several key points to successful article marketing and they all revolve around the quality of the article.
My first piece of advice involves PLR or private label rights. There is nothing ‘private’ about these articles. They are sold cheaply, in their thousands and the quality is often poor. They will need a rewrite to avoid the duplicate content issues. The only use I can find for the use of PLR is that they can provide a starting point for generating articles.
A good article starts with a good title – this includes the relevant keyword. The content of the article should be well written and justify the title – in other words, the reader should not be promised one thing in the title and be disappointed by the content.
The power of article marketing comes from two areas. The first is the resource box that is included at the end of all articles. This needs to follow sound SEO principles including the use of appropriate anchor text in the links. You should view the resource box a little like the description used to promote your pages in search results.
The second area is in your selection of article directories. Like the article itself, these need to be good quality sites. Sites that receive plenty of traffic, have a high page rank and a good reputation are the ones to concentrate on.
Don’t submit the same article to too many sites at once. If you must submit the same article, make some changes, or spread the submission over a period of time. Be prepared to have some articles rejected since some sites reject articles that have been submitted elsewhere. Submit your articles to these sites first if necessary.
Article marketing can deliver traffic in small numbers to begin with whilst, over time, helping to build backlinks to your pages. These backlinks will help reinforce your pages and can quickly give your pages a real SEO boost.
