Blogging Your Business To Success

The more I look at various SEO techniques that are thrown about, the more sure I am that blogging has to be one of the safest, fastest and most successful ways to build a business. I accept that activities like article submission, directory submission and social media also help to build links, deliver traffic and create an interest in your business. However, a blog really adds the meat to your success.

I will go one step further and suggest that the alternatives mentioned – for example, article and directory submissions – can and should be used to build your blogs presence. Social media marketing can also be used to build your blog, particularly if you have the time to answer comments and create a dialogue with visitors. So why am I so big on blogs and blogging?

Blogging provides content

To rank well in search results you need content and blogs are an ideal vehicle to publish that content. Posts can be written quickly and published without the need for any complex programming skills, or the use of a programmer. Of course, the content itself needs to be well written and the page – not only the content, but the whole page – optimized for search. With most blogs, that is not too difficult.

Blogging opens communication channels

Blogs also provide a perfect platform for engaging and communicating with your visitors. Just as importantly, they can communicate with each other, albeit, in public. Why is this communication important? Once a visitor starts to communicate, they will return, even if it is only to read what others have said about their comment. The more comments you receive, the more frequent these return visits will become. Of course, the more frequently your visitor returns, the more you imprint your business into their minds – it may take time, but regular visitors often become customers or clients – they are also more likely to mention your blog in any of the social sites they visit.

Blogging allows you to give back

This last is not a flippant phrase. The internet heralded the information age and that is what most visitors are after – so give it to them. Answer questions, provide solutions (which can include products) or provide information that goes beyond what can be found in a sales catalog. Don’t be too afraid of pointing a visitor to another site if they can be more helpful – they will thank you and remember you for it. Give the wrong information – they will definitely remember you – and not come back.

Blogging delivers across those three areas – and more. As a way of promoting yourself, your products or services and your business, nothing is as comprehensive as a blog. In fact, I would go so far as to say that no other single activity can provide as many benefits as a blog. Why don’t more businesses use blogs – in truth, they simply don’t understand the power behind a blog – once they do, they quickly become believers.
