2010 – Will Old Tools Come To The Fore Again
It’s an interesting time for website owners who are trying to promote both their websites and their products. There seems to be a shift going on when it comes to what tools are being effective and where best to promote your business. SEO will remain a strong factor when it comes to online promotions. For many websites, search traffic is their lifeblood.
Whilst search traffic may be their lifeblood for delivering visitors, one of the oldest online marketing tools, email marketing, seems to be gaining a new lease on life. As an inexpensive tool, the ROI on an email marketing campaign can be quite high. The biggest difficulty facing most website owners is in creating mailing lists. There are online tools that are making the management of mailing lists a lot easier – the next battle is in securing email addresses. This is perhaps one area where social media marketing will make big inroads.
Social media marketing is all the talk. The problem for most webmasters is understanding how to use this as a successful marketing tool. Unfortunately, for most online business owners, by the time they come to grips with a new method of marketing, something else comes along. If online business owners can master the art of marketing through social media they may find this one of the easiest ways to gain email addresses for email marketing.
WebProNews has an interesting article (two actually) discussing the power of press releases. Most business owners leave press releases to big business figuring they are too small and insignificant for a press release to be effective. This is far from the truth. As the WebProNews article points out, press releases have a long shelf life and can still be ranking highly in search results a year after its release. It is certainly an area worth considering for 2010.
2010 will be an interesting year. There are many predictions around at this time of year – the only prediction I will make is that 2010 will be interesting. Google is set for a new algorithm update – apparently a major update and Bing continues to impress. While social media marketing is reaching new heights, look out for some of these old tools – more press releases and more marketing emails in your inbox.
